Peacemaking
Calm aggressive creatures and de-escalate combat. Peacemaking can pause a fight long enough to retreat, reposition, or negotiate. Fails against creatures above your skill threshold.
Calm mechanics
- Targets affected: all aggressive creatures within radius. Does not affect players.
- Calm radius: 5 tiles at 0 Peacemaking, scaling to 15 tiles at 100.
- Duration: 5 seconds at 0 Peacemaking, scaling to 20 seconds at 100.
- Calmed creatures stop attacking but are not friendly — attacking breaks the effect.
Skill thresholds
- A creature whose combat skill exceeds your Peacemaking by 30+ points cannot be calmed.
- Partial calm: if creature outskills you by 15—29 points, duration halved.
- Critical failure: attempting to calm a vastly superior creature (50+ skill above you) causes aggro.
Strategic uses
- Escape: calm pursuing enemies and retreat.
- Pulling: calm a group, single out one target, pull it away, then engage.
- Recovery: calm enemies mid-fight to bandage or reposition.
- Negotiation: calmed NPCs can sometimes be interacted with. Rare dialogue triggers.
- Counter-play: Peacemaking dispels Provoking and Discordance effects on allies.
