Provoking

Taunt and enrage targets into attacking each other. In PvE, provoke monsters into fighting their own kind. In PvP, goad enemies into breaking formation.

Success mechanics

  • Success chance = (Your Provoking / Target's Skill) × 100. Capped at 95%.
  • Minimum success floor: 15% even against vastly higher-level targets.
  • Cooldown: 10 seconds at 0 Provoking, 5 seconds at 100.
  • Duration of provoked state: 10 seconds + 0.1 seconds per skill point.

PvE uses

  • Provoke two monsters: they attack each other until one dies or duration expires.
  • Provoke monster onto another player's target: redirect aggro.
  • Pulling: provoke a single monster out of a group. Safer than ranged pull.
  • Cleave: provoke a crowd into a tight cluster for AoE attacks.

PvP uses

  • Force an enemy player to attack their ally for 2 seconds (reduced duration in PvP).
  • Break formation: scatter tightly grouped defenders.
  • Interrupt: provoking a casting player causes a brief stun.
  • Countered by Peacemaking: Peacemaking dispels Provoking. Higher skill wins.
